YouTube Music always seems to come out with some new features. Well, that’s true, as the company has been rolling out new features every two months. However, that has just changed. According to the company, YouTube Music has switched to quarterly feature reviews.
Over the years, YouTube Music has adopted a bi-monthly feature summary schedule. Every two months we’d get a summary of new features added to YouTube Music. However, the company has announced that it will be set on a quarterly basis. So we will see these recaps every three months. This means fewer repetitions for the year. However, that doesn’t mean YouTube Music is slowing down with its new features.
YouTube Music has a quarterly feature schedule
With this announcement, YouTube gave us an overview of the past few months. For starters, while you’re playing music, you’ll see a little moving equalizer animation. These will be small lines that expand and contract as the song plays. Well, a little equalizer animation will move to the beat of your music. So it will look like a real equalizer.
Another notable feature that arrived on YouTube Music not too long ago was the new sample shelf. If you’re not familiar with what samples are, they’re portrait clips of TikTok-style music videos. Similar to TikToks, Shorts and Reels, you can scroll vertically by scrolling the feed of these videos. They are a way to expose you to more content based on your listening habits. You’ll be able to discover music videos of songs by artists you listen to frequently.
Well, the company has placed a horizontally scrolling swatch shelf on the home screen. This gives them a place where they are easily visible in the application.
In addition to these features, YouTube Music has also revamped the Now Playing screen. It moves the buttons and changes the overall look and feel. So the screen should look a lot different now than it did a few months ago.
Although YouTube Music has moved to a quarterly update schedule, there will still be no shortage of new features coming to the platform.
