CarPlay is an Apple feature that brings communication and entertainment functions to your car’s built-in display using iPhone apps. The feature appears on many aftermarket displays and new cars you can buy today.
With CarPlay support now available from most manufacturers, we’re also seeing more CarPlay apps. Once you install these apps on your iPhone, they appear on your CarPlay-enabled screen when you connect your iPhone. Read on for a growing list of iPhone apps that support CarPlay.

- Maps (Search, POI’s, Navigation, Nearby, Lane Directions, ETA sharing)
- Messages (Create, read, answer via Siri)
- News+ (Listen to audio stories for Apple News subscribers)
- Now he’s playing (This will display audio content from any iPhone app similar to Control Center for iOS)
- Podcasts (Also works with Siri)
- books (From iOS 8.4 to play audiobooks)
- Calendar (From iOS 13 to view current and upcoming events, including addresses)
- settings (Since iOS 13 to control Do Not Disturb While Driving, Light and Dark Mode, and Siri Suggestions)
- Dashboard (A new addition to the home screen since iOS 13, includes navigation tiles, favorite locations, audio now playing, Siri suggestions, and calendar events)
