The infrastructure of choice for AI with 10 systemic innovations unveiled at MWC Barcelona 2024.

BARCELONA, Spain, February 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — This year’s Huawei Cloud Summit shows how Huawei Cloud is the infrastructure of choice for AI applications. With the theme “Accelerate Intelligence with Everything as a Service”, the 500-person event brought together executives and experts from various industries, such as transportation, finance and the Internet. Huawei Cloud introduced 10 AI-focused innovations and Pangu model’s extensive industry expertise. The goal is an AI-ready infrastructure tailored to each industry for a faster journey to intelligence.

Jacqueline Shipresident of Global Marketing and Sales of Huawei Cloud, said in her speech: “Huawei Cloud is one of the fastest growing cloud service providers in the world. We at Huawei Cloud want to push the boundaries and bring cutting-edge technology to customers around the world. In recent years, we have launched a series of of local cloud regions, such as in IrelandTurkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, giving users easy access to the best performing cloud. With more than 120 security certifications around the world, you can be sure that your business and data are safe and sound. But it’s not just about technique. We believe in helping our partners grow with us, and this goal is now supported by our GoCloud and GrowCloud programs. And let’s not forget AI – it’s reshaping everything, and we’re leading the way. We’re building a solid cloud foundation for everyone, for every industry, to accelerate intelligence.”

Today’s core models are redefining production, interaction, service paradigms and business models for traditional applications. They make AI the new engine for the growth of cloud computing. Although the potential is immense, implementing artificial intelligence in line with business goals requires systematic innovation. Technical Director of Huawei Cloud Bruno Zhang said that “Huawei Cloud will help you with two strategies. AI for Cloud uses AI and underlying models to improve your experience. They are revolutionizing software development, digital content production and more. Cloud for AI makes AI adoption seamless and efficient . Architectural innovations, Native AI storage, and the convergence of data and AI enable you to train and use AI like never before.”

At the Summit, Huawei Cloud unveiled ten AI-focused innovations that make it the cloud infrastructure of choice for AI.

KooVerse: Huawei Cloud has 85 AZs in 30 regions in over 170 countries and regions. This global cloud infrastructure covering compute, storage, networking and security reduces latency to 50ms.

Distributed QingTian architecture: Baseline models call for a 10-fold growth in demand for computing resources every 18 months, far outstripping Moore’s Law. To meet this challenge, this architecture evolved from the conventional primary/secondary. Built on a high-speed interconnect bus (Unified Bus), QingTian overcomes limitations in computing, storage and networking for a cutting-edge AI computing backbone with heterogeneous, peer-to-peer, full-mesh computing.

AI computers: Hyperscale and stable, AI Cloud Service supports model training with a trillion parameters, and training jobs can run non-stop on a cluster of over thousands of cards for 30 days, 90% of the time. The service interruption lasts within 10 minutes. It provides more than 100 feature sets of Pangu models and 100 custom large open source models.

AI-source storage: Training models need mountains of data, and Huawei Cloud solves this requirement with a three-way approach: EMS memory service stores petabytes of parameters with 220 TB of ultra-high bandwidth and ultra-low latency down to the microsecond; SFS Turbo cache service for high throughput and concurrency of tens of millions of IOPS allows warming up 1 billion data records in only 5 hours, instead of 100; The Object Storage Service (OBS) knowledge lake reduces training and inference data storage costs by 30%.

E2E security: The full lifecycle covers model execution environments, training data, the models themselves, generated content, and applications. This ensures robust, secure and compliant models and applications.

GaussDB: This next-generation database features high availability, security, performance, flexibility and intelligence, as well as easy and smart deployment and migration. Specifically, its enterprise-class distributed architecture ensures high availability thanks to zero intra-city dual-cluster RPO, complete software and hardware fault isolation, and zero service downtime. For safety, it has the CC EAL4+ certificate, the highest level in the industry. For automation, GaussDB improves database migration, deployment and migration as the world’s first artificial intelligence database.

Data-AI convergence: The explosion of underlying models means that “Data+AI” is now “Data4AI and AI4Data”. Huawei Cloud LakeFormation unifies a data lake from multiple lakes or warehouses so that a single copy of data is shared among multiple data analysis engines and AI engines without data migration. Three collaborative pipelines—DataArts, ModelArts, and CodeArts—then orchestrate and deploy data and AI workflows. They run online model training and inference with real-time data. The AI4Data engine makes data management more intelligent, from data integration, development to quality and asset management.

Media infrastructure: In this era of AIGC and 3D Internet, Huawei Cloud has built a media infrastructure of efficiency, experience and evolution. For efficiency, Huawei Cloud MetaStudio, a content production pipeline that includes Workspace and AIGC-based virtual people, generates content faster and better. For experience, Huawei Cloud Live, Low Latency Live and SparkRTC enable more seamless interactions. For evolution, Huawei Cloud provides AIGC and 3D space services with real-time user interaction. All this combined raises the business and user experience to a higher level.

Landing zone: Enterprises better use and manage resources on Huawei Cloud thanks to unified account, identity, permissions, network, compliance and cost management. Now, multi-tenancy and collaboration are seamless across staff, finance, resources, permissions and security compliance.

Flexible implementation: All the mentioned features and services of Pangu model can work in public cloud, dedicated cloud or hybrid cloud. For example, customers can build and run a dedicated AI platform and foundation models in their existing data centers using Huawei Cloud Stackhybrid cloud solution.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 is being held in Barcelona from February 26 to 29. Huawei Cloud is ready to cooperate with customers and partners to present a wide range of interesting topics. In addition, innovative products and real-world cases covering Pangu models, GaussDB, data and artificial intelligence convergence, virtual human and software development will be showcased during the event.
