Rivian App for iOS: EV Range now available on iPhone lock screen widgets

A new update to the Rivian app for iOS has arrived and allows its owners to find out the range of their EV directly on the iPhone’s lock screen when a new widget arrives.

With this feature, users no longer have to open their devices and the app to learn more about the remaining charge and range of their Rivian electric vehicles on the lock screen, which is customizable to their preferences.

Modern technology and the latest electric vehicles have given the world a connected experience that delegates more information about the car to smart devices.

RivianTrackr, a well-known analyst of the latest developments from automakers, has announced the discovery of Rivian’s iOS app, which displays the remaining range and battery percentage of an EV on the iPhone’s lock screen.

It takes advantage of the Widgets of the latest version of iOS, offering an indicator connected to the Rivian app that shows the status of the vehicle.

This is included in Rivian’s iOS app version 2.8.0, which was released earlier today. The release notes are available here.

Although it’s a small update, it brings the Rivian app lock screen widget to iPhone, following the Live Activities update last February.

Rivian and its development of electric vehicles

Like Tesla and other EV carmakers, Rivian is one of those bringing significant features to its dedicated smartphone apps, particularly with iOS.

Its many developments in electric vehicles offer a connected experience with their devices, with massive features focused on current releases such as the R1T and R1S electric cars.

The company also recently launched its upcoming electric vehicle models, the company’s first new development with the R2.

It has been revealed to be a new compact electric SUV that has a five-seat configuration and offers 330 miles of estimated range. It will be available in two years, with expected market availability in 2026.

Smartphone connectivity is a huge plus in today’s automotive technology industry, and manufacturers are making sure these experiences are available even when you’re not using the EV.

In Rivian’s case, its iOS app now offers more functionality to help users better track their cars. Since the previous Live Activities update, it now offers widgets for determining range and battery.
