Development tools company Perforce Software has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Delphix, a provider of business data management software.
By bringing Delphix’s technology into Perforce’s portfolio, Perforce hopes to provide its customers with more data automation and compliance capabilities.
“Data is at the heart of how businesses operate today and is critical to successful software development, but accessing and managing that data is extremely challenging,” wrote Jim Cassens, CEO of Perforce. blog post announcing the acquisition last month. “Many teams don’t have quick access to solid, high-quality test data. Imagine something the size of a relational database, with all the data that needs to be collected and merged so that it can be tested — this is both labor intensive and very difficult to achieve. All that changes with Delphix.”
The company believes this move will enable it to address the complex challenges of scaling DevOps and provide a competitive advantage to its customers.
Additionally, the company says the move is beneficial for both companies’ customers, as there is a lot of overlap between their customer bases. For example, Perforce is used by 75% of Fortune 100 companies and Delphix by 30% of Fortune 100 companies.
“The acquisition of Delphix is a reflection of what our customers are telling us they need and how we are responding to that,” said Cassens. “I can’t think of another solution that better aligns with what we’re trying to achieve: helping our customers rapidly innovate and automate their development environments. We aim to solve DevOps’ biggest challenges without stifling innovation, and Delphix is a great example of how we can do that.”
