Nothing’s first American smartphone is (mostly) a success

With that said, Nothing has been announced a new update for the Phone 2, which comes as Nothing OS 2.5.3, will start rolling out this week. When it comes to things to keep an eye on, Nothing has made finding your apps easier than ever, with the option to apply the Nothing icon pack to your home screen only, keeping the mountain of apps in your app drawer intact. The brand also made additional changes allowing users to scroll through pages when trying to organize and move apps to the home screen. Furthermore, the new update also brings improvements to connectivity with Bluetooth media players and has newly optimized animations.

What exactly is Nothing OS 2.5.3?

While the above changes are welcome, Nothing has also included the April 2024 Android security patches in the latest update, as well as other system-level improvements. For astute readers, this update isn’t brand new as the software version was previously pushed to the Phone 2a and Phone 1 just last month. If you haven’t heard, the company made waves with the release because a new discreet call recording widget is included in the update, which may be illegal in some countries.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei supported the feature by stating that many have been asking for this to be included in “protect against bad players.” Of course, all we can advise is to be careful if you decide to use it. While Nothing hasn’t given an exact launch date for the new features for the Phone 2, you can always expect a notification to pop up when it’s If you’re someone who wants to be a little more active , you can always head to Settings → System → System Update section to manually check if an update is available for your handset.

If you have yet to check out Nothing’s phones, we recommend that you do. Despite not being at the top of our “best of” lists, the company is bringing something new and refreshing energy to the smartphone space. And best of all, you won’t pay an arm and a leg.
