A FRESH update from Apple awaits iPhone users, and with it will come a new battery boost feature, as well as a bonus Siri and security upgrade.
It doesn’t stop there as there are some bug fixes coming to fix the Find My app issues and the annoying issue that Dual SIM users are currently facing.
iOS 17.4 is expected to hit phones next week.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro users will get an updated Battery Health page in Settings.
It will start showing users the number of battery cycles, along with the date of manufacture.
The number of iPhone battery cycles is important because it shows the lifespan of your phone.
Knowing the battery cycle can be used to determine when you need to replace the battery.
According to Apple, “batteries in iPhone 14 and earlier models are designed to retain 80 percent of their original capacity after 500 full charge cycles under ideal conditions.
“iPhone 15 batteries are designed to retain 80 percent of their original capacity over 1,000 full charge cycles under ideal conditions.”
SIRI UPGRADE
With iOS 17.4, Siri will get a new option to announce received messages in any supported language.

iOS 17.4: Apple’s biggest change ever?
Apple’s iOS 17.4 update could be its biggest ever, as the tech company is forced to make some significant changes to its App Store policies.
The Silicon Valley giant will soon allow alternative app stores to appear on iPhones purchased within the EU, following a regulatory dispute with the bloc.
This not only offers iPhone owners a new selection of free apps – but also reduced fees in Apple’s official app store.
Currently, iPhone users around the world can only download apps through Apple’s App Store.
But he has been accused of creating a monopoly in the app world, giving developers no choice but to go through his channels and pay for the privilege.
Apple charges developers up to a 30 percent commission on all in-app purchases.
This regime meant that developers who either failed to meet Apple’s standards or did not agree to pay its fees were excluded from all Apple devices and their users.
It was this rule that led to Fortnite being banned from the App Store in 2020 after its developer Epic Games violated in-app payment guidelines.
PROTECTION AGAINST THE STOLEN DEVICE
The Stolen Device Protection feature that was introduced to iPhones in the last update will also get better.
It’s meant to keep some actions, like accessing your saved passwords or iCloud, behind a Face ID or Touch ID passcode in case a thief ever gets their hands on the device.
It works by requiring authentication via Face ID or Touch ID for sensitive actions like changing your Apple ID password.
With iOS 17.4, users will soon have the option to choose between automatically turning on the feature in all unknown locations or “Always.”
ERROR CORRECTIONS
Bug fixes in iOS 17.4 include a cure for Dual SIM users where the phone number changes from primary to secondary and is visible to the group they messaged.
And a fix for an issue where contact images are blank in the Find My app.
