Popular retro game emulator Delta will be easier to download on iPhone, as it was previously approved by Apple for distribution on Apple’s top iPhones via the Alt Store.
Since iOS 17.4 was released, iPhone users in the EU can download apps from third-party app stores and even set them as the default app store on their device. The Alt Store, which has been a popular side download for years, is now officially available for download. And Delta will soon be available for download via the Alt Store. The developer of the emulator, Riley Testut, shared on Mastodon that Apple has approved the app for distribution.
You will need to use the Alt Store to download Delta as the app will not be available in the Apple App Store. However, Apple recently allowed retro game emulators in the official App Store, so we might see Delta make its way there as well.
Retro gaming on your iPhone
Delta offers an impressive list of retro consoles to emulate, supporting a veritable who’s who of Nintendo classics. We’re talking NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Game Boy to DS. The UI here is clean, intuitive, and makes displaying the game’s artwork a priority.
Controller support is a big draw for Delta. Whether you’re a PlayStation, Xbox team or weak to MFi controllers, Delta welcomes you with open arms. Bluetooth keyboards and custom button mappings? Check and check. Customization is where Delta goes above and beyond. You can add a personal touch to your controller or even replace the game artwork.
And there’s some technology under the hood to power the Delta. It can fast-forward through slow parts, save your progress, and the Delta Sync feature can save everything to the cloud. Have you ever gotten tired of holding buttons for long periods of time? Delta’s ingenious “Hold Button” feature keeps you safe, keeping those digits free for more critical gaming moments.
