An iPhone user who ‘lost everything’ has issued a strong warning to Apple users over a potentially dangerous Apple Store app.
While we all head to the App Store to download all the essential apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter when we buy a new iPhone, there are some other apps we should all be wary of.
Of course, downloading well-known and favorite apps is perfectly fine, but not everything in the App Store is so safe.
A fake cryptocurrency app claiming to be related to the Leather Bitcoin wallet has been circulating and can be found in the App Store.
But you’ll have to stay away from this app because it’s apparently stealing people’s digital assets.

It was published by the developer LetalComRu, and the application uses the Leather logo.
As a result, many believe it to be the real deal and later download the app.
On top of that, the creators of the app also collected fake reviews, creating the illusion of legitimacy.

Fake reviews are extremely positive – another reason why someone might download the app.
People use this so-called cryptocurrency wallet to store cryptocurrency keys – something that is needed to make transactions.
Leather is one of the more popular Bitcoin wallet apps, so it’s a shame that some have fallen for its fake version.
The fake app is essentially a wallet drainer as it drains the cryptocurrency of those who use it.
One cryptocurrency user detailed a fake app on Xu, formerly known as Twitter.
User @CryptoVonDoom wrote: “There is a fake Leather Wallet app IN APPLE APP STORE.
“I literally checked for reviews too. This just cost me at least $40k.”

Many flocked to the comment section of the post to share similar stories, with user X even being offered money after he lost a dollar.
Thankfully, the app has now been removed from the App Store, with the same X user adding: “Fake Leather Wallet app has been removed from
@apple’s AppStore this morning. I’m glad it’s not working so no one else has to deal with this.”
Apple has since confirmed to iMore that the fake app has indeed been removed.
The rogue app likely tricked people into giving away their secret code and made transactions on their behalf.
In essence, they transferred the cryptocurrency belonging to the fraud victims to the developers who built the fake app.
