What can you do with the Apple Sports app?

On February 21, 2024, Apple introduced the Apple Sports app to help iPhone users easily track the scores and stats of their favorite leagues and teams. You can follow your favorite teams and leagues, check real-time results and team statistics and see live betting odds, injury reports, squad details and their schedule.

The app displays real-time scores and statistics for several of the world’s top sports leagues, including MLS, NBA, NHL, Ligue 1, La Liga, Bundesliga and more. Although Apple Sports only supports limited leagues for now, Apple’s announcement revealed that it plans to add more leagues, such as MLB, NFL and WNBA, for their upcoming seasons.

As of February 2024, the Apple Sports app is only available in three regions — the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

To download the Apple Sports app, your iPhone must have iOS 17.2 or later. If not, you can update your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Once everything is set up, you can download it from the App Store.

To see live and upcoming matches and final stats and results for all your teams in one place, tap three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the screen and tap My teams. Similarly, you can tap to view the same information for your favorite leagues My leagues instead of that. If you want to find information about a particular league that is not in your favorites, select one from the list in the same menu.

If you use other Apple apps like Apple News and Apple TV, Apple Sports will sync data like your favorite teams, leagues and athletes in those apps. However, if you want to disable this feature, tap three horizontal lines and choose yours profile icon in the upper right corner. Then turn off Sync my sports.

Although Apple Sports displays match betting odds by default, you can turn them off if you don’t find them useful. Oddly enough, you can’t disable betting odds directly from the Apple Sports app. Instead, you have to go to settings app on your iPhone, scroll to Sports application and turn it on Hide betting odds.

While you can find several great sports news apps on the App Store, Apple Sports stands out with its clean and minimalist interface. Unfortunately, the availability of Apple Sports is currently limited to iPhone users. So if you want to follow your favorite teams and league stats on your Mac or iPad, you’ll have to resort to third-party apps for now.
