Although you shouldn’t take your iPhone in the shower or swimming, many users do, causing water to enter the speaker. Fortunately, there are several free, easy ways to get water out of your iPhone’s speakers.
Use the water eject shortcut on your iPhone
First, make sure you have the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. Shortcuts is a native Apple app, so if you don’t have it, just download it for free from the App Store.

Then get a handy iPhone shortcut called Water Eject. On the web page, tap Add shortcut to download it to the Shortcuts app.
After successfully adding the shortcut, here’s how to use it:
- Open the Shortcuts app and go to Shortcuts tab.
- Touch Discharge of water shortcut to launch it.
- choose Beginning.
- You will be asked Select the intensity level. Choose what you think is appropriate based on how much water may have gotten into your iPhone speaker. Maximum intensity gives better results.
- You will now see a volume bar on the left side of the screen. The volume will be at 100% and your iPhone will start to emit a certain sound that ejects water from the speaker.
When the water ejection is complete, you will hear a “ding” sound. At this point, the shortcut will prompt you to connect to the Wikimedia site. Touch Don’t let it.
You can choose to add a shortcut to your home screen if you want quick access in an emergency. Touch three dots icon on the shortcut to eject water, tap Share icon (box with an arrow) and select Add to home screen.
Other ways to get water out of your iPhone’s speakers
If you feel that the Water Eject shortcut isn’t enough to remove water from your iPhone’s speakers, you can also try a few third-party tools.
Sonic
The Sonic application allows you to adjust the sound frequency; you can choose from 0Hz up to 25kHz. After setting the frequency, tapBeginningthe u button Cleaner to begin ejecting water from your iPhone’s speakers.

Fix my speakers
If you’d rather not download a shortcut or app to your device, you can go to the Fix My Speakers page to play the tone needed to blow water out of your iPhone’s speakers. Just tap the wind and water drop emoticon button to activate the sound.
What to avoid when your iPhone’s speaker is wet
Your iPhone’s speakers get wet when you accidentally drop the device in water. When trying to save a wet smartphone or tablet, you might immediately think of the method where people put their devices in rice to dry them.
However, this is just a myth. In fact, tiny particles can get into your iPhone and cause other damage. This is just one of the reasons why you shouldn’t use rice to dry your iPhone. Also, do not use your iPhone until it is completely dry.
If it’s not a serious case, the Water Eject shortcut, the Sonic app, or the Fix My Speaker page should easily help you get rid of water from your iPhone’s speakers. In the future, keep in mind that your iPhone is only waterproof, not waterproof, so you shouldn’t submerge it in a pool, drop it in a sink, or expose it to other water activities.
