Here’s why people complain about e-learning and how to fix it

boring e-learning

I’m a big fan of e-learning! I’ve been in the industry for almost 30 years and I think it’s a great way to learn. I also think it’s a great way to keep people engaged at work.

I recently had the opportunity to ask a group of people about their experiences with training and I was surprised by how negative their feedback was. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not surprised that there are problems with many training courses. I’m just surprised that so many people have so many negative things to say about themselves.

People complain about the courses they take, the quality of the courses and the fact that they are often forced to take courses they don’t want to take.

I understand where the negativity is coming from. Most people take courses only because they have to, not because they want to. And let’s be honest, a lot of the courses are pretty pointless. They are boring, uninteresting and poorly designed.

But I think there is a way to change that. I think we can make e-learning more valuable for students by making a few simple changes.

  • Check if the courses we create are really worth taking. They should be interesting, attractive and relevant. You are asking a person to dedicate their time to the course, we should respect that.
  • Students need a reason to attend the course. We need to find out what motivates them and give them the motivation to learn.
  • Courses should be a real learning experience, not just content. He is satisfied with the context. They should be interactive and engaging, not just a glorified brochure.

If we can make these changes, I think we can make e-learning more valuable for students. And that’s something we should all strive for.
