Google Apps tab carousel gets a redesign; now called “Your Space”

The classic card carousel that greets you when you open the Google app on your mobile device gets a new user interface in the app’s latest update. The section even gets a new name: “Your Space”.

For years, Google’s app has been focused on “learning” about you and providing useful information at a glance for your daily life. This is evident in things like the widget that is literally called “At a Glance” or the tab carousel that appears below the search box. These cards include information on items such as the weather, sports scores of your favorite teams, stock prices, and air quality in your location.

Now Google is adjusting the user interface of these tabs to make them more noticeable. They kept the rectangular shape with rounded edges, but now they are bigger and the color tones stand out more among all the elements. The new user interface displays more bits of information or distributes it more clearly on each tab, which is in line with Google’s idea of providing access to key data with little effort.

In addition, the company named this collection of cards “Your Space” although the functionality remained similar. That is, there are no new tabs with information on other items, keeping the classics for sports, air quality, weather and finance.

According to the source, the new tab UI carousel is available starting with Google’s 12/15 app update. In addition to the app, the redesign will be present in the Google Discover feed, which you can access by swiping all the way to the left on your Google Pixel or Android device (if enabled).

If you haven’t received the update yet, don’t worry because the rollout might be gradual, but the redesign is already available in the stable version of the Google app.
