Fingerworks Telestrators Announces Enhancements to Live Computer Vision Tracking Software

FingerWorks Telestrators at NAB 2024 (booth SL10047) announces updates to its FingerWorks Computer Vision software for players and real-time field tracking.

The latest enhancements include iOS support for iPad and iPhone, as well as an improved Tagboard control surface that integrates social media assets into live production. Building on its success in the pro and college football markets, the software is now used in NASCAR, NBA, NHL, PGA and MLB events.

“The FingerWorks development team has been busy this past year adding new features to our live Computer Vision software,” he says Bryan McKoen, Owner, FingerWorks Telestrators. “From social media integration and support for leading mobile devices, to applications outside of football, our exciting improvements will be game-changing not only for broadcasters, but also for fans watching at home.”

Introduced last year, FingerWorks Computer Vision tracks the path a player takes and can be applied to live broadcasts or during replays. Like all FingerWorks telestration technologies, the FingerWorks Computer Vision player tracking tool provides sports announcers with simple, effective tools to illustrate what they are saying to support their commentary.

Player Tracking allows you to select any player and focus on that player and their movements. In addition, the field tracking tool allows any graphics to be placed and positioned below the player, in real-time, and remain in that position during panning, tilting and zooming of the camera. The new FingerWorks masking technology, also part of the Computer Vision software, eliminates all logos, markers, etc. and makes them a “virtual” part of the image below the player. It also automatically detects scene changes such as quick camera movements, camera changes and erase tools.

The improved FingerWorks Computer Vision software will be on display during NAB 2024.
