CircleCI has just announced a new feature that will allow developers to automate the release orchestration process within the CircleCI UI.
According to the company, the main advantage of this new CircleCI editions feature is that it can give developers more confidence in their releases and reduce mean time to recovery for issues.
Key capabilities that will come with CircleCI releases include the ability to connect CI/CD to user experiences, automated rollbacks, real-time service validation, and performance degradation prevention.
The release dashboard shows a release timeline for all components (with details about each), a list of release environments, and a list of components and their associated projects.
“If you look at all the other deployment and release vendors on the market, they’re built to serve centralized release and operations teams that want tighter control over deployments,” said Rob Zuber, CTO of CircleCI. “But that doesn’t reflect the reality of elite software teams that depend on developers to drive and deliver rapid innovation. Our approach to CircleCI releases provides a developer-centric workflow that allows them to deliver faster and track new features into production along with the safety net of rapid release rollback if something goes wrong.”
This feature is now available to all CircleCI users at no additional cost. It currently supports Kubernetes, Amazon SageMaker and Argo Rollouts.
The company also plans to add support for Blue green implementation later this year.
