As 9to5Google reports, Chromebooks will get location privacy controls. A new privacy control feature will let you decide whether Android applicationsweb applications in Chromium browser. It specifically deactivates Google’s location services, although apps and websites can still estimate location using the IP address.
The report also adds that the feature will be available to everyone in the first half of 2024. It’s important to note that even when the switch is turned off, websites and apps can still estimate your location using your IP address.
The Location Privacy toggle is located in Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy Controls. This update is part of a larger focus on privacy for ChromeOS, which also includes:
* Detailed app-level camera, microphone, and location permissions for web and Android apps
* Secure local data recovery for business users

The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in), a body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has issued a warning to users of Google’s ChromeOS. The agency has identified several vulnerabilities within the ChromeOS operating system and updated its official website with relevant information.
CERT has listed the affected software version as Google ChromeOS LTS channel version before 114.0.5735.339 (platform version: 15437.76.0). According to CERT-In’s assessment, these vulnerabilities are rated with a high level of severity.
