After the dream of iMessage for Android was crushed, Beeper has released a revamped Android app that is now available and is already getting its first update.
The new Beeper app for Android brings a complete redesign of the app that supports connecting different chat apps to bring them all together in one place. You can connect Google messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and many others.
Currently, Beeper for Android represents version 4.1.48. This is the first major update of the revamped app, and it brings a lot of fixes and changes.
As detailed in the changelog shared via the “Beeper Updates” channel in Beeper’s desktop app, some key improvements and fixes include better power efficiency, higher video quality with streams, correct display when messages are sent via RCS on Google messages and some demolition questions.
There is also a specific fix for sharing Wordle results, as previously some messages did not display all the content of the results.
Improvements
- Reduced energy consumption
- Better performance when opening rooms and sending messages
- Double the video quality when sending videos (2x faster transfer rate)
Problem solved…
- Some messages are in the wrong order and are not displayed
- Unsuccessfully sent messages were stuck at the bottom of the chat and could not be deleted
- Lots of falls
- Google Messages chats that were upgraded from SMS to RCS would still show up as SMS in storage
- Message search results weren’t always showing (not tapable yet, that’s next)
- The sticker picker sometimes crashed
- Editing failed for messages on Instagram and Facebook Messenger
- Chat information screen mute/unmute switch not connected
- Pinned chats did not sync properly and could not be removed
- Crash when scanning QR code during verification login
- Chats can sometimes be in a state where they won’t load any messages
- Some messages cannot be deciphered
- Sending to group chats failed with experimental local signal bridge
- The shared Wordle results did not show all the content of the message
This update is now rolling out via the Play Store. Please note that the new Beeper app currently requires an invitation.
