On Wednesday, Apple announced a new app of its own — Apple Sports — for sports fans. The free app is available for iPhones running iOS 17.2 or later and offers real-time scores and stats for various leagues and tournaments such as the NBA, Premier League, MLS and more.

The Apple Sports app is currently available in the US, UK and Canada. According to the company, the Apple Sports app is designed for “speed and simplicity” and also comes with an easy-to-use interface and the app size is around 17MB.
“We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that provides incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services.
The app has a simple user interface with details like live stats and also allows users to manage their favorite teams and leagues in one place. It has an age limit of 4+ and supports English, French and Spanish. Users can also customize the scoreboards and there is an option to move between current and upcoming matches.
Apple TV users can quickly switch to watching a live match with just one tap, and selected favorites can also be synced with the Apple TV app and Apple News to offer relevant recommendations. Apple also recently introduced the MLS Season Pass for Apple TV+ users in select markets, and over the years the company has partnered with many live sporting events.
