Apple iPhone users have been warned to check their phones for a fake app designed to look like the real thing.
The suspect app has been removed from the App Store, but Apple is asking people to check if any of its customers still have the app installed on their phone.
The app of concern tried to copy a legitimate app called LastPass — a password security and encryption website.

The fake app has a similar but incorrect name, LassPass — an apparent attempt by the developers to trick unsuspecting users into downloading the app.
“LastPass would like to alert our customers to a rogue app that is trying to mimic our LastPass app on the Apple App Store,” the (legitimate) company said.
“The app attempts to copy our branding and user interface, although a close examination of the posted screenshots reveals spelling errors and other indicators that the app is fake.
“We draw the attention of our users to this in order to avoid possible confusion and/or loss of personal data.
“Rest assured, LastPass is actively working to remove this app as soon as possible and will continue to monitor fraudulent clones of our apps and/or violations of our intellectual property.”
Those who downloaded the fake app are urged to delete it and update any passwords they may have shared with the app.
Apple has since removed the app from its stores.
