Google Pixel 9: news, leaks, rumored price and release date
The Pixel 9 series is Google’s biggest mobile shakeup since Tensor — here’s what to expect
This new piece of information was discovered in the latest beta build, version 15.14.34.29, and it has some code that seems specific to the Pixel 9. And while it’s not the most exciting leak, there do seem to be some details relevant to the phone that could emerge during the process setting up Google Assistant.
Some new details, but no mention of Pixie
The news comes from The SP Android, sharing two files, one of which actually has an animation file that could appear on the upcoming Pixel 9. You can see the animation in the image above, and while it’s cute, there’s not really too much to see here. One thing to note is that the app didn’t make any references to the Pixie Assistant, which was revealed just a few months ago.
Google has been tight-lipped about Pixie, but it could end up being a new AI assistant exclusive to Pixel devices. According to our earlier report, this new assistant won’t be a replacement for Google Assistant, but instead will be disabled when it can’t handle requests, especially when Assistant is less powerful because it’s offline.
While we don’t know much about the new assistant, it will reportedly be powered by Gemini, but will be less powerful. Pixie will also reportedly be able to pull data from connected apps to provide a more robust experience. While it is expected to arrive on the Pixel 9, there is also a possibility that it will be available on other Google products as well.
When it comes to the upcoming Pixel 9 series, we actually know quite a bit, and it could arrive as a trio of devices debuting later this year as the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. As for the processor, we should expect Google’s next-generation Tensor processor, along with camera improvements.
Additionally, the phones will run Android 15 out of the box, and we should expect some fantastic software tricks that will really set it apart from other phones on the market. But, as usual, we’ll have to wait and see, and if the past is any indication, we won’t see any of these new phones until sometime in October.
