TL; DR
- Deutsche Telekom has presented a new concept phone that relies entirely on AI.
- The company states that this experimental device has an app-less interface.
- The AI handset is just a concept and could end up as vaporware only
AI has been the talk of the industry lately, and this year’s MWC is no exception. As companies unveil their AI products and ideas, a concept AI smartphone from Deutsche Telekom seems to be one of the revelations that is catching the attention of visitors.
Today, Deutsche Telekom presented a new concept phone that relies exclusively on AI. It is an experimental device that is said to solve all user needs with the help of artificial intelligence instead of apps.
The idea for this device seems to stem from what the company believes could be a possible future for smartphones. “I can tell you that in 5-10 years, none of us will be using apps anymore,” CEO Tim Hoettges said in the keynote.

Some use cases for such a device include sending queries and receiving generated suggestions for travel, food or products to buy. Or you can take a photo and ask the AI to send the photo to friends and family.
Deutsche Telekom developed this AI device in collaboration with Qualcomm and Brain.AI. Speaking of Brain.AI, the company already has an iOS app that claims to do the same thing as this phone. However, most reviews of the app seem to be negative.
It is important to emphasize that the AI headset is only a concept. There’s a good chance it will end up as vaporware.
