A battery saving tip was posted on the popular Reddit forum.
It’s called r/GooglePixel and has 1.1 million members sharing tips and tricks.
One forum user posted what they described as a mega thread about the Google Pixel.
“Welcome to the Battery Megathread, where you can find information and get help with any battery-related issues your Pixel may be experiencing,” they wrote.
Part of their advice included watching out for power-hungry apps.
“Despite battery-saving features like Doze, some apps can still drain your battery undetected,” they wrote.
The first suggestion on the list included an overlooked notice.
“Make sure the ‘Apps using battery’ notification is turned on and wait a few minutes to see if it appears.”

To turn on this feature, first go to Settings on your Google Pixel device.
Then click on Apps and notifications and See all.
Then you need to select the More icon which is represented by three dots.
Then tap Show system, Android system, and then Notifications.
Here you should be able to enable notifications about battery draining apps.
You can now get a warning about apps that are draining your battery.
You may want to delete some of the culprits or spend less time on a few of your favorites.
Why do batteries degrade over time?
Here’s what you need to know…
- Most gadgets run on lithium-ion batteries
- Over time, the amount of charge this type of battery can hold decreases
- This means that you need to charge your device more often, because they hold less charge
- Batteries have two electrodes – cathode and anode
- To charge the battery, the ions inside the battery are pushed from the cathode to the anode
- And when you use the battery, they move in the reverse direction
- This process wears down the structure of the anode, reducing its ability to function properly
- But the process also creates a kind of salt on the cathode during charging
- As this accumulation grows, the battery will charge less over time
- It is estimated that between 500 and 1000 full charge cycles will reduce the maximum capacity of the battery by approximately 20%
