Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy phones may not stand out with their specs or features. But they are still popular due to their wide availability. In 2023, we ranked the Galaxy A54 as the best budget Samsung phone worth your money. For 2024, the company is working on its successor — the Galaxy A55 — which should be launched as soon as possible. Some leaks have already revealed the phone’s design, and a new report now details its detailed specifications.
Samsung Galaxy A55: news, leaks, rumored price and release date
Samsung’s 2024 mid-range model could see some key internal upgrades
A WinFuture report reveals that the Galaxy A55 will feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. If true, that’s a 0.1-inch increase in size over the Galaxy A54, with peak brightness noticeably better too.
Under the hood, an Exynos 1480 clocked at 2.75GHz will reportedly power the OS and all your favorite Android apps and games. The entry-level Galaxy A55 should ship with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the higher-end configuration is said to have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
According to the report, other rumored features include a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and NFC.
The camera system on the Galaxy A55 appears to be unchanged from its predecessor. It should reportedly feature a 50MP f/1.8 primary shooter with OIS, a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide and a 5MP f/2.4 macro shooter. For selfies, the phone could feature a 32MP f/2.2 shooter on the front.
The phone will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery, with support for 25W fast charging. Again, this is the same battery capacity and charging speed currently offered by the Galaxy A54. On the software front, the Galaxy A55 will reportedly run One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. It’s unclear what Galaxy AI features Samsung will bring to its mid-range flagship phone.
In Europe, the price of the Galaxy A55 reportedly starts at €449 for the entry-level version, while the 256GB configuration should cost around €500. The phone will reportedly go on sale in Germany on March 11, 2024, alongside the Galaxy A35. Samsung will offer the Galaxy A55 in navy blue, ice blue, white and purple colors.
The leaked Galaxy A55 press renders have already revealed its design in full glory. The phone will have a “Key Island” on the right, a raised platform that will house the power button and volume rocker. Apart from some minor design changes and internal specifications, Samsung’s 2024 mid-range phone doesn’t seem to have any other significant changes.
