Google opens the Fitbit app and will display statistics from Health Connect services. Announced at Mobile World Congress 2024, this is billed as providing “a more complete picture of your health.”
On the Today tab, Fitbit will display health statistics from non-Fitbit devices and services. Those tabs — such as steps, active zone minutes and exercise days — will be marked with the Health Connect heart logo and will appear alongside other first-party sources like the Pixel Watch or Fitbit tracker.
On the You tab, a new “Records” section lets you see all the “Health Connect Data” listed: “These are the types of data you allow Fitbit to read from Health Connect. The data in Health Connect may not match the metrics you see on your Fitbit devices.”
Third-party services will be flagged and allow you to dive into the overview using the familiar Fitbit interface. This starts today.
Health Connect is part of Android 14 or the Play Store installation on older devices. First, you need to set up the integration in those third-party Android apps.
Google Fit previously served this role of displaying data from a variety of sources. That app hasn’t been significantly updated in a while, and this big addition to Fitbit somewhat sidesteps Fit.
