5 must-have iPhone apps for tracking home inventory

Sortly is primarily designed for business inventory, but it can also be used for home organization needs. Here’s how to get started.

  1. On your iPhone, launch Sortly.

  2. Create a Briefly account or link it to your Apple ID or Google Account.

  3. When asked what you will use Sortly for, tap “Personal” and select Next.

  4. On the “About your inventory” page, tap “Why use Sortly to Track?” select Cataloging Personal Items and tap Done.

  5. Tap “Which category of items are you following?” and select the item type. You can select multiple types of items at once. Tap Done to confirm.

  6. Once you’re happy with your selection, tap Next.

Sortly is available on iOS and Android. While Sortly is free to use with access to important features like item photos, custom tags, and inventory lists, you can list a maximum of 100 items, which may not cover your entire home. However, the free tier can still be useful if you only plan to use it to inventory a single room, such as a kitchen or garage.

Alternatively, you can probably spend on the Ultra plan ($59 per month) to track up to 10,000 items. The paid plan will cover super useful solutions for managing the inventory of consumer goods that you need to replace regularly, such as low stock alerts, check-in/check-out of items and generation of QR code labels. Sortly has discounted plans for annual subscriptions, as well as a 14-day free trial for new users.
