PrestaShop Save and share shopping cart: Improve your customers’ shopping experience by allowing them to save their shopping cart for later purchase. Increase your store’s visibility and drive more traffic by allowing customers to share the cart on various social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Linkedin etc. Also, customers can manually copy the link and share it with their friends.

• First, go to the module manager in the back office and click ‘upload a module’.
• After that, drag and drop the module file or select a file from the system.

Delete the user’s existing shopping cart when saving the shopping cart

If the customer has added products to the cart and saved the cart, then the cart will be deleted if the administrator has enabled this option.

Delete a user’s existing cart while creating a cart using the link

If enabled, then the customer’s current cart will be deleted when products are added to their cart via the shared cart link. Let me explain this with the help of an example.

Suppose John shared his shopping cart containing 2 products: a shirt and jeans with Peter. Peter has already added shoes to his cart. Now, when John shares his cart with Peter via a link, the shoes will automatically be deleted from Peter’s cart and the shirt and jeans will be added to the cart.

When sharing the basket, the number of products that the customer added to the basket will also be shared.

Select the allowed options for sharing the user’s shopping cart

The administrator can choose different options through which customers can share the shopping cart. Customers can share their shopping cart on Facebook, Messenger, Twitter, WhatsApp, Linkedin, Skype and Messenger. Also, the customer can share the shopping cart link with others.

Allowed customer groups

Select customer groups whose members can access the save and share cart options.

If allowed by the back office admin, the cart save and share options will be visible to customers on the cart page.

Save the basket

By clicking on the Save basket button, a pop-up window appears on the page where the customer can see the products in the basket, enter the name of the basket and save it.

After installation, the new tab “SAVED CART” becomes available in the user account. On this tab, the customer can see saved baskets and share them.

Under Saved basket, the customer can see the basket url, basket information and delete the basket.

Click on the ‘eye’ icon to view cart details.

The customer can add products from the saved cart to the cart by clicking the “LOAD CART” button. Also, the customer can search for the product from the search bar in case he has added more products to the cart.

Products added to the cart will be deleted if the customer saves the cart.

Share the basket

By clicking the share cart button on the cart page, a pop-up window appears on the page where the customer can see different options to share the cart.

Customers can share the shopping cart with their friends on social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Linkedin. Also, customers can send the cart url via email.

Delete a user’s existing cart while creating a cart using the link

When a customer shares the cart url with another customer, then the existing products in the cart of the customer with whom the cart is shared will be automatically deleted.

As we can see in the above two screenshots, customers Peter Doe and John Doe have added several products to their cart.

Now, if Peter Doe shares his cart with John Doe, then the products added to John’s cart will be automatically deleted.

Share a custom product via the cart share link

In the screenshot above, we can see that Peter Doe has added the product along with the customization details to the cart.

Now, if Peter shares the cart with another customer, say John Doe, then the product along with the customization details will be added to John’s cart.

Share the product quantity using the cart sharing link

When a customer shares a cart, the amount of products he added will be added to the cart of the customer he shares the cart with.

In the screenshot above, you can see that the number of products added by Peter is shared with John.

After placing the order, the customer can see the “share cart” option on the product page.

After installing the module, a tab called “Saved Cart” becomes available in the back office. From here, the administrator can see the list of shopping carts saved by customers.

Click on the view button to see the details of the cart.
