Beeper will get new apps on iOS and desktop after Android

After three years of closed testing, Beeper is now available to everyone, and with it the company also confirms plans to bring its major Android redesign to its desktop and iOS apps next.

Beeper’s major Android app redesign launched in beta last month as a complete overhaul of the cross-platform chat app. The app is now much faster, more secure by using local bridges for Signal, and also more feature-rich.

However, Beeper is not just an Android app.

Beeper previously confirmed that 9to5Google that it planned to port its Android redesign to iOS and desktop apps soon, and the company has now reiterated those plans after adding 70,000 new users since opening the dam earlier this week.

Beeper says these new iOS and desktop apps will be “similar in scope to the Beeper Android rework,” likely using the same design language and feature set.

Other parts of the app plan include bug fixes and improvements to the Android app including archiving support, as well as bringing the Texts.com team into Beeper’s staff.

There’s no exact date for Beeper to be restored on iOS and desktop, but hopefully it’s not too far off!
