Google continues to work on improving its app for Android and iOS. Now, Android Police reports that the company is developing a new toggle switch between search and Gemini AI for Android. The switch already exists in the iOS version of the app, and it has long arrived for the Android version of the app.
Google is working on a Gemini switch for its Android app
So far, generative artificial intelligence has made its way into multiple Google services, including Gmail. Recently, the Google app on iOS got a useful toggle that lets you switch between standard search and using Gemini AI. However, the Android app does not have a switch.
That could soon change, based on evidence found in the undeveloped version of the app. Leaker AssembleDebug found a new switch in the Google Android app. The version of the app is unclear, but screenshots and videos show that it works similarly to the iOS version.
It is not yet clear when the switch will be officially released. It could take weeks or even months for Google to finalize it. First, beta users of Google’s app should get a feel for it.
As of right now, Android users can access Gemini through a standalone app, while iOS users can access it directly through Google’s app.
