YouTube Music for Android is getting a share table redesign

The YouTube family of apps has its own design language compared to Google’s first-party apps. That trend isn’t changing anytime soon, and it continues today with the redesign of the custom share sheet in YouTube Music for Android.

Tapping “Share” no longer opens a grid-based table that takes up two-thirds of the screen. Instead, it’s now much smaller with a carousel showing five or more targets per screen.

Below that are buttons for “Copy Link” — which used to be the first option in the 3×5/6 grid — and “Share with Other Apps” to open the system’s share sheet. The new size, which takes up about a third of the screen, is better for one-handed use, but could be uncomfortable if you often share with many apps.

LR: The old YouTube Music, the new YTM and YouTube

This design matches the YouTube app, although the main client has rounded leaves. YTM goes edge to edge for all popups.

The custom sharing table redesign was first rolled out on iOS before making its way to YouTube Music for Android in recent days.
