Letterboxd is a social platform for movie lovers. It’s best to think of it as a film diary and a social network combined.
You can write about movies you’ve seen, share reviews and rate them. It’s all about fueling your passion for film, allowing you to discover new films, follow your film-loving friends and other people with the same taste as you, and create movie playlists based on almost any genre or topic.
You can access Letterboxd on the web, but I’d recommend the Letterboxd iOS app for your iPhone or iPad as well – you can also get the Apple TV app.
What do you get with the Letterboxd app?
In the Letterboxd app, you can do everything you can do on the web, such as browse popular and highly rated movies and view your activity feed. You can also record movies you’ve watched by date, rating, and review to help you find them.
You’ll also find all the best social elements, like options to create a list and see everyone else’s, view members’ profiles and the movies they’ve watched and their reviews, and follow people so their activity is in your feed.
You will also find tons of information about movies and you can add them to your watch list, filtering and sorting them based on any criteria you choose.
There’s also the option to upgrade to Letterboxd Pro, which gives you access to an all-time stats page where you can see your account activity, remove third-party ads, and use the streaming service’s filters. This means you can select and filter movies based on the streaming services you’re subscribed to, which is incredibly handy.
In addition to being a treasure trove of movie content and recommendations for movie lovers, the app is convenient and easy to use. If you want to find more movies to watch this year, download the free version.
