Tech giant Apple has announced that it will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
Apple’s 2024 edition of WWDC is scheduled to begin on June 10 and end on June 14. The four-day conclave will witness a keynote speech by CEO Tim Cook. The company’s engineers will also introduce new software tools for developers to work with in the Apple device ecosystem. Selected student developers and professional developers will have the opportunity to interact personally with Apple experts.
We are so excited to connect with developers from around the world for an amazing week of technology and community at WWDC24. WWDC is all about sharing new ideas and giving our amazing developers innovative tools and resources to help them build something even more awesome.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations
Apple will host a live stream of the event on its official Apple Developer app, the Apple Developer website, and on its YouTube channel.
WWDC 2024: Here’s what to expect at Apple’s annual developer conference
As at previous WWDC events, Apple will offer a sneak peek of the upcoming iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18 and visionOS 2.
Recent reports indicate that the new iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will come with new features — the biggest upgrades and changes in over a decade.
Apple plans to introduce features related to generative artificial intelligence (gen AI) into its devices. It is reportedly in talks with Google to integrate Gemini with iOS for the iPhone. It was also talked about how Apple improved the digital assistant Siri.
Not only Google, Apple is also in talks with AI ChatGPT maker OpenAI to build AI features on the iPhone.
Apple recently acquired a Canadian GenAI start-up — DarwinAI — and already several of its employees have moved to the artificial intelligence department of the Cupertino headquarters. Unlike other AI features on Android phones that require cloud server connectivity to perform tasks, Apple, a strong advocate of user privacy, wants AI features to work fully on the iPhone/iPad.
Apart from Siri, other native iPhone apps like Keynote, Voicememo, Numbers, Files and others will get AI-enabled features.

Apple will offer iPhone users more options to customize the home screen. Additionally, with the visual interface of VisionOS becoming increasingly popular among US customers, Apple is expected to introduce radical changes to the user interface for the iPhone as well with the release of iOS 18.
After introducing a new cryptographic encryption protocol for iMessage, Apple is expected to support RCS (Rich Communication Service), which is already available in Google’s Messaging app. This will allow iPhone owners to send pictures, videos and other forms of multimedia content to phones with a different operating system without losing quality and facilitate group chats.
Apple plans to bring several new accessibility features to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2.
