A recent rumor indicated that iOS 18 will include more customizations to the iPhone home screen for users.
This claim comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who stated in his recent newsletter that Apple will make it easier to customize the Home screen in iOS 18, and has since been backed up by sources who spoke to MacRumors. Fully customizing the iPhone’s home screen currently requires a third-party app, but hopefully the iOS 18 update will give users more options without having to download anything else.
iOS app icons are assumed to remain in the basic grid layout like the iOS 17 update and previous iOS versions. However, since MacRumors’ sources state that the customization concerns the layout of app icons, one plausible possibility is that the update will allow users to leave empty spaces, rows, and columns between icons, instead of automatically arranging them in the densest possible layout. from top to bottom.
Beyond the home screen, it looks like iOS 18 will also bring a ton of new features, and Gurman says it could be the biggest software update Apple has ever made.
One of the biggest rumors about the upcoming update is the possible inclusion of new AI features for supported iPhones. This update will likely also add support for Rich Communication Support (RCS) for improved text messaging compatibility with Android phones.
There is currently no set information on what iOS 18 will include or if certain features will be locked to specific devices. While we don’t even have a release date, past trends suggest that everything will be revealed at WWDC 2024 in June. We’ll be regularly updating our iOS 18 hub with any new information and rumors you can check out in the meantime.
