If you’re specifically looking for food businesses and outlets around you, Foursquare may be another good option to consider. The app has a basic interface where the search section lists six main categories: breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and tea, nightlife and activities. If you’re up for research, you can select any of these categories and browse businesses near you. Alternatively, you can use the search bar at the top to search for specific companies that interest you.
Like Google Maps, you can filter your search results by tapping the Filters icon below the search bar. Select any business to see details such as phone number, website, opening hours, social accounts and advice (reviews from other users). We found that businesses listed on Foursquare have fewer user reviews than other apps on our list. Therefore, if you rely heavily on community feedback to make decisions, this app may not be right for you.
The app also has a Lists tab, which allows you to make a list of places you want to visit. For example, if you’re interested in going out for breakfast, create a new list called Breakfast and add places to your wish list. These lists can be shared, and people who follow you on the platform can view or edit them.
