GForce Software is back with another upgrade to one of its existing synthesizers – Version IV VSM (AKA Virtual String Machine 4) – which it calls “the perfect solution for creating the sonic foundation of your next song.”
This includes sounds from 46 classic string machines, including models such as Solina, Elka, Logan and Korg. That’s significantly more than the 17 that VSM started with in version 1, and you can create hybrid patches thanks to the two-tier architecture. You get over 1900 presets, of which over 200 are new, and over 11.5 GB of sample data.
There are also new features – a fully scalable user interface and new patch and instrument browsers designed to make it easier to find the sound you’re looking for. Undo, redo, copy and paste functions are now here too.
With these practical improvements, you’ll find new ways to shape your sounds: wow and flutter; alternative state variable filter and ensemble effect; new LFO shaping options; assembly; and matrix reverb. Poly aftertouch and velocity controls have also been expanded for an even greater level of expression.
VSM 4 runs on PC and Mac in VST/AU/AAX formats and starts at £84. The regular price will be £120.
