Tekla 2024 Structural BIM software offers an improved user experience and connects workflows between projects and stakeholders

Improvements and further adoption of open standards increase collaboration performance

WESTMINSTER, Colo., March 13, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) today announced the introduction of 2024 versions of its Tekla.® software for structural building information modeling (BIM), structural engineering and steel production management. With an improved user experience, Tekla Structures 2024, Tekla Structural Designer 2024, Tedds flowed in 2024 and Tekla PowerFab 2024 allow users to collaborate with ease through improved communication for more integrated, connected workflows between all construction project stakeholders. Usability enhancements make the Tekla solution suite ideal for both experienced and new users, helping them stay on schedule and on budget with their projects.

Collaboration is one of the decisive factors for the success of BIM. Tekla 2024 releases include industry-standard communications enhancements that enable users to efficiently deliver the necessary documentation and model information, using a wider variety of supported industry formats. Connected workflows form the cornerstone of sustainable construction strategies to focus on increasing efficiency, optimizing resource allocation, reducing waste and supporting comprehensive maintenance throughout the asset’s life cycle – all based on constructive design.

“Improving coordination between all project stakeholders is critical to ensuring the industry can deliver projects on time, budget and schedule. The Tekla 2024 releases are another significant step in bringing all these stakeholders together,” he said. Michael EvansSenior Product Director, Trimble Engineering and BIM Solutions.

Tekla Structures 2024
Tekla Structures version 2024 provides an improved user experience for staying on schedule and on budget. It gives engineers and detailers — working on complex geometry projects — access to more intuitive modeling with less repetition right from the start. Improvements to the automated cloning of fabrication drawings bring significant benefits to the fabrication of drawings of steel and precast cast units.

Tekla Structures’ robust change management enables users to work efficiently with the ability to quickly deliver industry-compliant drawings and transfer error-free model data to support client requirements.

Support for open industry standards
Aligning even more closely with industry workflows through support for open standards such as BCF (BIM Collaboration Format), Tekla Structures 2024 enables users to communicate model-based issues among project collaborators throughout all project phases. In software, buildingSMART properties are supported by improved and extended IFC property sets, out of the box.

Integrated workflow
By improving interoperability between Trimble software, hardware and other third-party solutions, Tekla Structures 2024 brings new integrated workflows for better collaboration. The generation of improved rebar geometry is optimized for manufacturing, delivery logistics and site operations. Data exchange with field and scanning hardware from Trimble allows users to retrieve as-built data from the site and share accurate designs. Trimble Connect Business Premium — included in the Tekla Structures named user license — comes with enhanced collaborative workflow capabilities, such as model-based status sharing.

Extended offer for new licenses
Tekla Structures users can now take advantage of three products in one powerful offer. The “Named User License” for Tekla Structures now includes Trimble Connect Business Premium and Tekla Model Sharing as a comprehensive solution. Trimble Connect Business Premium provides access to workflow extensions and advanced BIM tools for faster and better project delivery.

Tekla Structural Designer 2024
Ability to analyze structural design and analysis software Tekla Structural Designer 2024 is improved by stepwise construction analysis, which takes into account that there is a sequence in construction and loading. This fully automated process — which is fast and easy to use — can be applied to the design of concrete and steel structures. Structural engineers can now also use reference models from other disciplines such as architecture or MEP to check compatibility with their structural model.

Tedds flowed in 2024
The latest version of Tekla’s structural engineering calculation software is based on the seamless integration of structural design information and documentation with Tekla Structures to enhance collaborative design down to the last detail. Tedds flowed in 2024 offers updated libraries of predefined structural calculations and custom calculation capabilities for faster, more reliable design of structural elements, also in multi-material designs. It now also offers wall design for US codes, angle steel design for European and US codes, and basement retaining wall analysis and design for European and US codes.

Tekla PowerFab 2024
Version 2023i of the Tekla PowerFab steel production management software introduced visual change management and job cost estimation. The latest version now features improved project management tools to organize and track subcontracts, change order breakdowns, and integrate with BCF themes using Trimble Connect. BCF Topics allows companies using different software to collaborate, with the ability for project managers to track multiple projects and report on topics. To further improve office-shop communication and transparency, Tekla PowerFab 2024 introduces a new cut list prioritization.

Security of information
As part of Trimble’s ongoing efforts to ensure the enterprise-level security required in environments that thrive on data sharing, all Tekla products are certified to be fully compliant with ISO27001, the leading global standard for information security management.
