WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that makes it easier to search messages.
Now you can effortlessly search messages by date on WhatsApp for Android without having to dig through endless conversations to find what you’re looking for. This feature is already available on iOS, Mac desktop and WhatsApp Web.
Mark Zuckerberg himself revealed a new feature on his WhatsApp channel. He even posted a video of him looking for an old woman karaoke conversation.
To search for a chat with a specific date, just tap on a contact or group chat to dive into the details. Press the search button directly below the name of the contact or group. If you are in other countries, you may need to tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and select is looking for option.
When you spot the calendar icon, tap on it and a calendar will pop up allowing you to select the exact date you’re looking for. But this feature is limited to finding conversations on a single date. So if you’re thinking of searching within a date range, unfortunately that’s not possible.
Previously, WhatsApp search was based on keywords only. Type a word and all messages with that keyword will pop up. Additionally, you could already browse chats by media type—links, photos, videos, GIFs, audio, polls, and documents—right from the chat list view.
A great new feature is a welcome relief to those tired thumbs, as users no longer have to scroll endlessly. Just remember the date of a specific message or media file and you’re good to go.
